Single Component Positive Displacement Dispensing

Positive displacement - also called volumetric - dispensing by nature ensures the most consistent deposit sizes, irrespective of environmental factors.

Adhesives, for example, might change viscosity under changing ambient temperatures. Time/pressure dispensing will require continuous setting adjustments to keep the required volumes. Volumetric dispensing will not be influenced by these circumstantial factors at all. A valve system ensures consistent dispense action. There are different types of volumetric dispensing.

The most common methods of positive displacement dispensing are:

  • Rod-metering valve systems that use a rod which moves into a closed chamber and displace a precisely match of volume of fluid.
  • Rotary valve systems that use a pump with a lead screw rotating in a body to drive fluid between the screw threads out to the needle.
